Do you endorse LIFT and the Local Option Sales Tax?
I still have questions that need answering before I can endorse the Local Option Sales Tax. While I have read that the tax will not stack county on top of city; which will take priority if both the city and county want to put a tax in place for a particular project? How many of these taxes can be put in place at once? Our local small businesses are already struggling to compete with the large corporations in our area; will this additional sales tax harm our local small businesses?
Whether you are in support of LIFT or not, what projects do you see as priority that could benefit from community funding?
I believe investments in infrastructure and quality of life improvements such as mass transportation, business district aesthetic appeal, roads, sidewalks, and street lighting for certain areas would all be great projects to undertake.
What will you do to improve the physical appearance of the business community? Will you put processes in place to ensure the ease of access through planning and zoning for new business development in the area?
The City Council has put ordinances in place for the aesthetic appearance of our community. Most of the buildings/businesses in Radcliff are privately owned so it is a matter of those businesses wanting their business to look more appealing for their consumers.
I had no problem finding or accessing the planning and zoning department in Radcliff; I looked up the City website online and pulled the contact information (telephone number and address) from there. I then called the office and spoke to two different people to get the information I needed; both were helpful and knowledgeable. I am willing to help new businesses make contact with the planning and zoning department if they are experiencing difficulty.
With the termination of the North Hardin Economic Development Authority, who within the City will assume the role of oversight for Millpond and business attraction activities?
It is my understanding that the City has temporarily taken back oversight of Millpond, but will be putting in place another economic entity to handle oversight, marketing and recruitment of businesses to Millpond. I would be honored to be selected as part of the new committee.
Will you be a supporter of the Radcliff Small Business Alliance? Will you be a supporter of the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce? For the Mayor office, which of these meetings will you regularly attend?
Yes, while I am not currently a member of the above mentioned organizations, I consider myself to be a supporter; I do try to attend as many of their meetings and events as possible. I believe these organizations are crucial to the growth and development of our City.
