Do you endorse LIFT and the Local Option Sales Tax?
I believe that if the citizens of Radcliff say they need something then it is up to their mayor and council members to develop a plan to satisfy that need. If it requires money then the budget needs to be re-prioritized, and lastly as necessary increase the taxes we already pay.
I also dislike the idea of granting this additional taxing authority to the County, where Radcliff taxpayers could solidly be against the proposed project, yet be outvoted by the rest of the county and made to pay for it.
Whether you are in support of LIFT or not, what projects do you see as priority that could benefit from community funding?
I am sure many would say a YMCA, but really I don’t believe tax dollars should be spent on private entities such as YMCAs. But would say that we maybe should be looking a convention type center.
Do you see any services provided by both County and City government where it would be more cost effective to combine these efforts?
Not at this time
In light of potential additional cuts at Fort Knox, will you endorse funding for One Knox? If not, what are you willing to do to protect the economic contribution of Fort Knox?
We need to support everyone who can show a solid plan to protect our economic engine on Fort Knox. If One Knox lays out the best plan then we should support it, if some other group has a better plan / record then they should be supported. If neither presents a solid plan then we need to create a new entity.
What are you recommending being done to bring new business to the community? What incentives should the City make available to existing business to expand and potential new business to come to the area?
As you know I co-founded the Radcliff Small Business Alliance and serve as their Treasurer. The Alliance works to support individual business owners through networking, marketing events, seminars, workshops and monthly meetings designed to address small business owners concerns and topics.
What will you do to improve the physical appearance of the business community? Will you put processes in place to ensure the ease of access through planning and zoning for new business development in the area?
While a councilman for over 12 years I voted for tax incentives to several new businesses. I do not see any pull back from those efforts in the future.
With the termination of the North Hardin Economic Development Authority, who within the City will assume the role of oversight for Millpond and business attraction activities? What do you see as the key strategic plans for the marketing and development of Millpond?
The North Hardin Economic Development Authority was ineffective. Meeting to just to have meetings wasn’t getting the job done. I look forward to working with the council and key community stakeholders to create a new entity – with new people – to market not only Millpond but Radcliff as a whole. We must work together and seriously plan an then execute the plan to increase our local economy
Will you be a supporter of Radcliff First?
Mayor Duvall started Radcliff First as a way for him to connect with the City’s businesses. He held several meetings at first but these have very infrequent and sporadic. The Radcliff Small Business Alliance was introduced at the first Radcliff First meeting and I think has become that venue
Will you be a supporter of the Radcliff Small Business Alliance?
Of course! The RSBA has proven itself to be a solid very low cost, high return organization for the small business person.or local leaders to connect with the city’s business owners.
Will you be a supporter of the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce?
I will support Rotary, Lions, Optimist, AUSA, RSBA, Chamber, and anyone else who can help the economy and quality of life for Radcliff citizens.
For the Mayor office, which of these meetings will you regularly attend?
All
