Each year, Leadership Hardin County participants are responsible for completing a “class project” designed to benefit the citizens of Hardin County. For this year’s class, which is made up of 24 community members, there is an initiative to build a new dog park at the Vine Grove Optimist Park. By meeting with local leaders, the class found that with substantial growth in the Vine Grove community over the past few years, citizens have expressed a need for a pet-friendly area for large and small breeds of dogs to play safely at the park. Optimist Park attracts many visitors from around the region, with Rachel’s Fun for Everyone Park, soccer fields, camping spots, and the upcoming Rachel’s Splash Pad, which is set to open this summer.
To make this project a reality, the Leadership Hardin County class is leading fundraising efforts. Businesses can contribute through three tiers of sponsorship, and a special recognition will be placed at the dog park to showcase businesses who supported the project. Donations can also be sent directly to the City of Vine Grove at 300 West Main Street. In addition, you can also contribute by purchasing bourbon raffle tickets through Give 270’s Whiskey Wednesday raffle on March 29 through April 5 at give270.org. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the project.
