Fort Knox Welcomes a New Garrison Commander

Welcome COL Christopher J. Ricci to our community!

COL Ricci is the new Garrison Commander of Fort Knox, assuming command on July 14 from COL Lance O’Bryan.

COL Ricci was commissioned as an Armor officer in 2002 and he later transferred to the Infantry. Previous assignments include command staff positions in light cavalry, mechanized, and Stryker Brigade Combat Teams. He has served in key roles from Alaska to Afghanistan. He most recently commanded 1st Battalion 2d SFAB at Fort Liberty, NC, where he was responsible for developing foreign partner forces in multiple African countries.

His military education and experience is vast and impressive, with degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Central Michigan University, the US Army Command and General Staff College and the Army War College in addition to Airborne School, Air Assault School, Ranger School, and Combat Advisor Training to name a few.

COL Ricci is also highly decorated and he is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Bronze Start Medal with two oak leaf clusters and the Army Commendation Medal with Valor.

We look forward to working with COL Ricci and his wife, Judith Ann and welcoming them to Hardin county.
