Comcast Business today announced it will begin offering a new internet service on Wednesday, July 24, that will deliver speeds up to 1 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) to business customers across its Central Kentucky coverage area, which includes Campbellsville, Cave City, Elizabethtown, Hodgenville, Horse Cave, Leitchfield and Vine Grove.
Comcast will deliver these super-fast speeds using DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem technology, which uses the communication lines that most residential and business customers already have in their homes and offices. The gigabit service will be among the fastest and most widely available in Central Kentucky and will include access to the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network of more than 19 million hotspots.
This new technology will benefit small businesses that have a need for faster download speeds without costly and disruptive construction of new network infrastructure. “Business Internet 1 Gig” and “Business Internet 500” speed tiers will be available to thousands of business customers across Central Kentucky.
Elizabethtown Mayor Jeff Gregory explains the community impact: “We are pleased to hear of this economic opportunity for both existing and new businesses in our community. It is also encouraging to know that Comcast will use its existing network, so they aren’t digging up streets and sidewalks.”

Today’s announcement follows news made in late June that Comcast launched a similar service for its residential customers in Central Kentucky.
