Did you know that Women’s Equality Day is August 26th?
This day commemorates the struggles of women to be heard and the adversity women faced in gaining the right to vote. Often known as women’s suffrage, the fierce and fearless advocates of the movement resulted in the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing all American women the right to vote.
The 19th Amendment was ratified on August 18th, 1920, but not certified by proclamation until one week later on August 26, 1920.
This year’s theme is “Inspire Inclusion,” when we inspire others to understand and value women to forge a better world.
We salute and thank all of our community’s female leaders, past and present, for their vision, hard work and contributions.
