The 2025-2026 Youth Leadership Hardin County class wrapped up its last session of the year by focusing on Education and Fort Knox.
The students kicked off the day with a panel discussion featuring school and district administrators from Fort Knox, Hardin County Schools and Elizabethtown Independent Schools. The students had the opportunity to ask questions about how the districts are run, how decisions are made, and learn about the challenges and rewards of being a school administrator.
The students also participated in a group activity allowing them to use their problem-solving skills as they were faced with real-world and real-school situations.
Then, the group was off to Fort Knox, where they had lunch, sponsored by Abound Credit Union, with Garrison Commander COL David Holstead and heard his perspectives and experience in leadership. Following a great Q&A session with COL Holstead, the students were off to tour a training facility on post and learn more about the specialized and vital training that takes place in today’s Army.
The last stop was the General George Patton Museum where the students toured the historic artifacts and learned more about Patton’s legacy, as well as the history of our military and leadership.
Thanks to the sponsors, volunteer coordinators, speakers and everyone involved in making the day a grand success.
