Do you endorse LIFT and the Local Option Sales Tax?
I will endorse anything that is going to benefit the community. I don’t like to see a raise in my own taxes, let alone being responsible for raising taxes on others. However, after looking at the benefits LIFT can bring to our community to boost our economy, that penny on the dollar could help revitalize key areas, such as Redmar Plaza, and the upkeep of our parks. Since the LIFT program is for projects alone and will not be part of the general fund, and the citizens know the tax is not permanent, I would agree to the LIFT program if that’s what the voters agree to. I want to be a voice for the people.
Whether you are in support of LIFT or not, what projects do you see as priority that could benefit from community funding?
As one of the priorities, our city could use a facility where our children could go and enjoy a safe, fun environment where the cost would be affordable to all participants. Our children, not to mention our senior citizens, need a recreation center. I believe each and every citizen would benefit from this center. If the voters approve of the LIFT program, that money would go to good use in funding a recreation center for our young and old alike. After all, they are our responsibility.
What will you do to improve the physical appearance of the business community?
Because of our current Mayor and his staff’s action plan of beautification projects around town, as an official, I would like to see many more beautification projects in the works, such as finding ways to revitalize the Redmar Plaza and the areas leading into the Wilson Road Gate to Fort Knox.
What do you see as the key strategic plans for the marketing and development of Millpond?
As a promoter, I would use the SWOT approach as many area developers do. I would promote our Strengths—it’s location is a prime location for ecommerce to come and go without going through the heart of the city; finding ways to minimize our Weaknesses, reconstructing the land to attract the businesses to the area; optimizing Opportunity to attract businesses such as incentives like property tax breaks and discounts; and learning how to reduce the Threat of businesses leaving our area for greener pastures.
Will you be a supporter of Radcliff First?
Yes, I support Radcliff First because it is a tool that keeps its citizens informed on what’s going on around town, whether they are big or small projects.
Will you be a supporter of Radcliff Small Business Alliance?
Yes, I support the Radcliff Small Business Alliance because they support our small businesses. The alliance gives the business owners a voice and the support they need to succeed, and when they succeed, we as a community succeed. I want to continue to see our small business owners strengthen our local economy because that’s what it’s all about—strengthening our economy.
