The 2025-2026 Leadership Hardin County class took a closer look at the local law and justice fields during their April session.
The day’s events were coordinated by District Court Judge Kimberly W. Shumate, who provided a full slate of activities, tours, interviews and discussions for the group.
The day included a panel discussion with local law enforcement leaders and officials representing the Kentucky State Police, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, the Elizabethtown Police Department, the Radcliff Police Department and the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force.
Other activities during the session included presentations from Teen Court, meetings with the local judges serving our county, a video arraignment session and a tour of the Hardin County Detention Center. Prior to the session, each member of the class participated in a ride-along with a local police department.
The day was extremely interesting and fulfilling.
Thanks to Judge Shumate for her time and coordination. Special thanks to the breakfast and lunch sponsors: Signarama of Elizabethtown and CASA of the Heartland, and thanks to everyone in the law and justice arena who work hard to keep us safe and protected. Your efforts are deeply respected and appreciated.
