HMHF creates COVID-19 Emergency Fund, Adopt-a-Unit Food Donation Program
Individuals and organizations encouraged to donate to help HMH caregivers and patients
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (March 27, 2020) – The Hardin Memorial Health Foundation (HMHF) created two new funds to support caregivers and patients during the COVID-19 outbreak. The COVID-19 Emergency Fund will provide additional resources needed to address the pandemic at Hardin Memorial Health (HMH), and the Adopt-A-Unit Food Donation Program will help boost morale of frontline healthcare team members.
Individuals, community groups and local businesses can make monetary donations online at ourhmh.org to either fund. All gifts will directly impact the regional healthcare system’s response to COVID-19.
“Countless people and companies want to help,” said Tracee Troutt, HMH Vice President and Chief Development Officer. “By giving to this fund, donors will allow HMH to care for the people who provide care for patients and to purchase extra supplies we need to fight COVID-19.”
“HMH has long had an Employee Support Program fund to help our team members in extraordinary financial situations,” said Myra Covault, HMH Vice President, Human Resources. “Today, that fund balance is $0 but the need for help is higher than ever.”
Also, HMHF will accept $50 minimum donations to the Adopt-A-Unit Food Donation Program and then provide a catered meal from a local restaurant for a specific HMH unit. Donors can “thank” HMH medical team members currently experiencing a challenging, unprecedented situation, while also supporting local restaurants who need business more than ever during this shutdown.
“These two giving opportunities are the best ways to deploy supplies and give assistance to patients and staff and their families,” Troutt said.
In-kind donations can be arranged by contacting the HMH Foundation at 270-706-6769 or slamar@hmh.net. Due to infection control prevention standards, HMH can only accept commercially manufactured masks and personal protective equipment (PPE), and
commercially prepared food and meals.
Donors may also mail checks to HMH Foundation, 913 North Dixie Avenue, Elizabethtown, KY 42701. All donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
