Hardin County Chamber of Commerce
Giving members the opportunity to Network, Promote and Develop
You are cordially invited to…Geeks in the Garden
Thursday, October 17, 2013 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Brown Pusey House Garden Cocktails and Hors D’oeuveres
This casual, networking, mingling event will also feature a few words of
wisdom from our local Dr. Tao Le – a entrepreneur with several successful
start-ups (he may even share a scary story – since it’s close to Halloween
– about a multi-million dollar start up in the early dot.com years).
In addition, business guru Mo Miller will enlighten start-ups on how they
may get investment dollars from the local Lincoln Trail Venture Group
(our very own Shark Tank – only nicer)
Sponsored by The Lincoln Trail Innovation Center, Hardin County Chamber of Commerce & Lincoln Trail Venture Group
Cash bar Please RSVP to Lisa Williams: 270-307-4214 or Lwilliams@kyinnovation.com
Recently, a group self-labeled as the “Geek Group” met to discuss
the need for a networking venue for like-minded folks in the IT
world and entrepreneurial start-ups. The KY Innovation Network –
locally referred to as the Innovation Center – works with individuals
and companies with new, emerging technologies and entrepreneurs.
As such, the Innovation Center is happy to sponsor, along with
the Hardin County Chamber and Lincoln Trail Venture Group, an
event to bring together all you young (term used loosely), smart
professionals with perhaps some entrepreneurial streaks surging in
you. So…if you are in the IT world, if you are starting your own
business, if you are perfecting that perfect App, if you have a web-based
business, if you are one of those folks plugged in at Panera, if
you are thinking about a “downtown endeavor”, OR if you want to
just have a fun night out – come and join us! This is a networking,
mingling kind of night — meet some new friends, connect with
some old ones!!!
The Geek Group hopes to expand to include you. Other than simply
sharing info, the group is also working on the possibility of getting
a small business accelerator started in downtown Elizabethtown. A
more permanent place for folks like us to plug in would be great.
Share your thoughts at Geeks in the Garden. Our thoughts so
far (well, maybe our fantasy) is to have a high-tech facility with a
SOHO look in downtown – maybe including a coffee shop and
cultural center as well – where artists might meet up as well as
venture capitalists!
