October brought a hot Economic Development Day for this year’s Leadership Hardin County Class 2019-2020. The class started at the Hardin County Industrial Foundation where there was a Leader Panel Q&A to include Matt Adams, Rick Games, Mo Miller,
Patricia Krausman, and Jana Clark.
They offered different perspectives and insights on what they are doing to not only increase our community’s economy but also make it a fun place to both work and play. They highlighted both the growth we are experiencing and the challenges we are facing. The class then traveled to Thomas Dairy Farm where the class listened to Mr. Walker Thomas talk about a typical day as a dairy farmer and discovered how local dairy farms have had to adapt due to the rise of mega farms. Afterwards, the class visited the Vine Grove Country Club, where Mr. Blake Proffit gave an update on the changes, improvements, and developments taking place in Vine Grove.
The class then had the opportunity to go on a tour of Scotty’s and heard about the huge economic impact it has had on the Vine Grove and Hardin County community. The day was closed out with a Vine Grove Hidden Gem Scavenger Hunt to include the following businesses and locations: 2 Sisters Tea Room, Wilson &Muir Bank &Trust, Picture This Portrait Studio and Vine Grove Tech Repair, THE DIY Studio &; Studio Grounds, The Blue Rose, My Crazy Comfy Closet, Main Street Antique & Things, and Optimist Park. Although it was unusually warm for October, the class enjoyed learning about he wonderful businesses Vine Grove has to offer.
